TAMPING PLUG

By inserting the WEBCO Plug into the blast hole to stem explosives gasses, the gasses are contained within the hole giving maximum efficiency from each blast. The WEBCO plug is designed and patented in South Africa. It is manufactured in flame retardant material which consists of two parts. When one part is inserted into the other, the plug expands outwards against the wall of the blast hole, causing a firm seal.

What is so special or different about the WEBCO Plug?
• Increases blast efficiency • Labour saving • Cost saving • Lightweight • Small in size• Stemming materials drastically reduced • Reduces depth of sockets after blasting • naffected by wet holes• Fully recoverable in the event of a misfire and compression holes • Not affected by varying working temperatures • Surpasses the efficiency of any other stemming system incl two-part polymer stemming • The WEBCO Stem Plug is ideal for alluvial mining; boulder breaking; general demolition; Granite and Marble quarrying; reinforced Concrete breaking; Road Construction; Site Excavation; Aggregate and Sand quarrying; Trenching and Underwater demolition; Tunneling Excavations. General underground Mining

It is generally accepted that the shock from the initial detonation of explosives in a blast hole is responsible for the cracking, spalling and weakening of the rock around a blast hole. The following rapid expansion of gasses provides the heave and resultant fragmentation. Thus, confining the gasses in the hole for as long as possible which is important in maximising the blast efficiency. This has been substantiated by studies indicating an inverse relationship between stemming ejection and face velocity.
The use of the WEBCO stemming plug in blocking the escape of expanded detonation gasses will therefore greatly enhance whatever stemming material is used, including the best-crushed stone available. Improving the confinement of explosive energy with the rock mass, increases the efficiency of a blast.
